Is there a way to sandwich glass panel vertically without the frame?

I'm talking about these panels:

Usually they fit vertically in these windows:

But is there anyway I could prop them vertically?

Maybe something like this piece, but sideways:

But I don't know if it would fit in, or how I would even get it sideways.
